October's Winner ShadowFox49

October's Kill The Zombies! content winner has received their prizes and was kind enough to send us an email with their picture.

"Winning zombie prizes by playing zombie games, what else could a guy ask for! Thanks Ryan for hosting an awesome contest and an even better website. And to all my fellow competitors thanks for being good sports and the best of luck to you all in the next contest - ShadowFox49"

Running October's contest was fun, and it's really great to be able to give away prizes and zombie gore! I feel like Zombie Santa.. which is a great idea for December's contest!

Unfortunately it looks like there won't be a November contest, simply because I didn't get it ready in time, however the Zombie Blog Contest is still running and if you'd like to be the next to receive Zombie Movies, just post a link to http://www.killthezombies.com on your website and let us know to qualify!

Zombie Attack in 3000 BC Egypt

From the article:

Hierakonpolis is a site famous for its many "firsts," so many, in fact, it is not easy to keep track of them all. So we are grateful(?) to Max Brooks for bringing to our attention that the site can also claim the title to the earliest recorded zombie attack in history. In his magisterial tome, The Zombie Survival Guide (2003), he informs us that in 1892, a British dig at Hierakonpolis unearthed a nondescript tomb containing a partially decomposed body, whose brain had been infected with the virus (Solanum) that turns people into zombies. In addition, thousands of scratch marks adorned every surface of the tomb, as if the corpse had tried to claw its way out!

One Zombie Killer stands alone as the October champ!

Congratulations to Shadowfox49 who is the winner of Stubbs The Zombie: Rebel Without A Pulse, and a Zombie Movie on DVD in our October contest! Shadowfox49 made a big push on the last day to win. Thanks to everyone who played!

I am already planning the November tournament, which will start next week. In order to make the future tournaments as fair as possible, I am working on an improved scoring system, so the tournament will be delayed until I can complete it.

The new scoring system will attempt to enforce these rules:

1.) You can only play one game at a time.
2.) You must be actively playing for points to count.
3.) You may not log in from more then one location at once.

Make sure you post a link to Kill The Zombies! on your website, blog, myspace, or facebook to qualify for our Blog contest for a free Zombie Movie on DVD!

Halloween Day - Last Day to Win!

It's the final day of the October competition and newcomer Shadowfox49 has quickly jumped into the lead and appears ready to play all day to win the Stubbs game and Zombie Movie. I'm sure Jamesecret1 and nephillim will give Shadowfox49 a run at it before the day is over though. It's still not too late for new players to win it though, there are 22 hour to go still.

At midnight on Oct. 31st, the contest will be closed and results will be audited to ensure that nobody cheated by leaving the page open and pretending to play. Any suspicious activity will be disqualified from the contest.

UPDATE: Shadowfox49 has been penalized 3702 points for leaving a game open without playing it for over 24 hours. I am not sure if this is intentional or not. All players please be warned that I can detect when you are not playing, and inactive games will be disqualified. I'm still trying to improve the scoring so that these points are not awarded in the first place.

Good luck!!!

Zombie Movie Blog Contest

I'm running a bonus contest for anybody reading the Kill The Zombies! blog.

I'm giving away a free mystery Zombie Movie on DVD. To win, simply post a link on your website or blog to Kill The Zombies! (http://www.killthezombies.com). Post a comment here with a link to your website once you are done to complete your entry.

I will pick a random winner (or two winners if we have enough entries) to win!

It's easy, your odds of winning are probably pretty good, and it helps spread the word about Kill The Zombies!

Good luck! The contest ends November 15th! There may be multiple winners!

Kill The Zombies! Updates

A few changes were made on Kill The Zombies! yesterday. After tracking the screen sizes of our visitors, I decided to increase the default website size to fit larger screens. This allowed me to make some layout improvements, and will eventually lead to a bit of a redesign. I hope everyone enjoys the improved layout!

For visitors on small monitors, there is a new dropdown on the top right which will let you switch back to the old smaller layout.

The competition has finally started to heat up. There is a close race brewing between leader Jamesecret1, and close runner-ups djbaraka and peggels. We've got about 5 days left so there is still lots of time for somebody to step in and take this competition.

I will be auditing the results to make sure there has been no cheating, such as leaving your browser open pretending to be playing.

Here are the leaders so far:
